I don't know why you two would even try to argue this because there are objective stats. The stats indicate a good deal of plurality. Despite decades of state repression of religion it persists and has been expanding ever since the state eased up on religious repression. The religious number more than the nonreligious. That is simply a fact.
But I'm sure the anecdotal experiences of a visiting foreigner carry more weight than scientific investigations and the data therefrom compiled.
