Outside of sportsmen and hunters, Canadians generally don't care about guns. There is a gun culture, particularly out West, but very few people view it as a fundamental right.

I know plenty of hunters and what not that think it's a right. When you move away from people that actually use guns, though, support is virtually non-existent.

Essentially, it is a rural-urban split.

Also, keep in mind that some people may support more permissive gun laws - such as myself - without viewing it as a right. That is a far more popular position in Canada.

I would like to see a militia-based right, but that ain't gonna happen. Canada would be so badass with a civilian-run militia...
