As a developed nation, it would honestly be shameful and immoral to let our citizens live anywhere near how most 3rd world citizens live. I don't want poor kids selling knockoff DVDs in the middle of traffic so they don't starve. Maybe you think it builds character, but it's inhumane and puts them in a position where they will never succeed. How can a kid or person who has to worry about their daily sustinance ever get ahead when most of society can take all of that for granted and devote their energies to business/education etc.
