I'd just like to add that I honestly believe the reason they really, really want to push the racism angle is because no one seems to care about gun violence in the US unless a white person is somehow involved. I don't know why that is, but think about. How many minorities get killed every year in inner cities? Thousands, but they are mostly minorities killing one another so it gets no press and no consideration from Obama as one of them as being his son if he'd had one. This is why they pushed so hard for Zimmerman to become a white man in the minds of the public. Doing that got people from all side of the political spectrum involved in this case. Those on the left wanted to use it to further their argument for gun control and racial profiling, those on the right came out to defend SYG laws and guns. Why can't those same groups come out for inner city violence? My opinion? I am in gull agreement with the OP. In order for the JD to get charges and a conviction for a civil rights violation they have to prove that Zimmerman committed a crime with racial intent, and do so after the state of Florida said he committed no crime. So, if he committed no crime how could he have committed one under racial intentions? It's all a dog-and-pony show by the Fed to be seen as proactive in the eyes of the public. Holder would much rather be seen talking about federal civil rights charges than to not be seen talking about it.
