People are upset that background checks weren't being expanded or enforced. It's not an anti-gun position to hold. The poll doesn't show that at all.
I'm "less likely to vote for a candidate that didn't vote to expand background checks". I also don't think assault rifles or whatever need to be banned again. The positions can be mutually exclusive.
Furthermore, now that the NSA is all up in our collective ball sack, people are going to be less inclined to want to control what types of weapons should be banned.
