That is a blanket generalization, as well as a false one. All religious people do not oppose homosexuality. All monotheists do not oppose homosexuality. Most religious people are actually little different than you or I. They just kind of believe in some of the outdated precepts of an ancient form of human psychology, left over from the days before the scientific concept of human psychology existed. Since those outdated precepts completely and totally inform our culture you believe in most of these too, even though you don't believe the myth itself!

Religion, like it or not, does a lot of social work no one else will touch.
