Yup. I mean, I'm oppressed by my gender role too. I can't go to Bath and Body Works and buy candles for myself, because I'd be stereotyped as gay, or immediately assumed that I'm buying them for my gf.
I can't cry.
I can't complain about the hard things in my life without being told to "man up".
I'm expected to pay for the date.
I'm expected to hold the door open for the lady.
I'm expected to be in charge in the relationship.
If I want to go hunting I'm just some barbaric cave man
etc. etc. etc..
It goes both ways. Claiming that somebody finding something amusing ala dumb blonde doesn't demonstrate sexism. That's like saying I'm homophobic because I thought a gay joke was funny, or racist because I thought a joke about black people was funny.
The sterotypes exist against men as well. Look at the Big Bang Theory. They're smart guys, they like math and science, they must be inept with girls.
