Guys, y'all don't understand what is meant by "opting out". It doesn't mean that they can somehow not require people to have HI. It doesn't mean that they can flaunt the law. It simply means that they will have the Federal government set up their insurance exchange program, instead of developing their own. The average person will see no difference.
However, I'm not saying that the hypocrisy isn't there. You just need to identify it properly.
These GOP states (I'm one of them) say that they don't want the Fed telling them how to run healthcare in their states (which I agree with). But, then they turn around and hand over their exchanges to the Fed, thereby relinquishing control to the exact people who they don't want controlling their program.
