Not a tantrum, you f**k up and still aren't man enough to admit it. I guess we'll just concede you are not man enough and move on.
They better not get any kind of bailout if they go bankrupt. Has there been a single oil company to be bailed out? No. So this is a moot and stupid point.
But I live and work in the oil and gas industry, something most people here, if not everyone here, can't say. I have forgotten more about oil and gas production than most people here will ever know. What people fail to realize is that large oil companies like Chevron, Anadarko, BP etc risk TREMENDOUS amounts of money when they drill for oil. Nobody here cries a single tear when they drill a dry well and waste 50 million dollars doing it. But damn, if they make a profit, even a record profit, HOLY SHIT THEY SHOULD BURN IN HELL. You don't realize, these companies can go bankrupt easily because of poor drilling practices. Look how much A SINGLE BLOWOUT COST BP. They are STILL PAYING PEOPLE. It wasn't even BP's fault, it was some rig workers who were not following protocol. Had that happened to a smaller oil company, it could have bankrupt them. As it is, it hit BP for BILLIONS.
But talking out of the other side of their mouths, the lead in on the liberal news is that the price of gas rises once again. Well hun, you can't have cheap gas at the pump and not punch holes out in the Gulf and risk things like the BP blowout. No risk, no reward. But just like with investments, high risk usually has a high reward. If they spend 50 million and hit a good pocket of oil and gas, they can make record profits.
If people just had the slightest clue how the oil and gas industry works, I wouldn't get frustrated with threads like this. Is this making excuses by some questionable practices by Halliburton in the past? No. But I'm sick and tired of hearing about "evil oil companies" and their "record profits" like they risk 0 dollars to make that money.
Just FYI, Halliburton pays their people FAR better than Wal Mart does.
