Well they should be separated, but not because of the law or anything, but because all religion should be abolished.

Well how do you know they just aren't saying 2, but really doing 1? You know, so it looks like their culture is the official culture of the land or something.
Monuments, special buildings etc exist for a reason. They create a psychological predisposition to accept authority.
If those symbols are mixed up with the dominant cultures religious symbols it's hard to determine what what type of authority you have there. Is it a racist authority? Is it a religious authority? Is the authority legitimate?
Hard to say. It's starts getting blended together and next thing you know BAM Torquemada is running things.

See, now this is far better than just calling everything offensive and tearing everything down to neutral colored unadorned box buildings.

It's only offensive when it's someone elses cultural symbol adorning your country's institutions and yours isn't.
