They even had "arab" and "black" emperors! That doesn't imply that they had a more enlightened approach to xenophobia at all. I'm just reading into it. So what exactly was the point of that remark, if not to show how horrible "western" conceptions were by comparison?

Wow, that is a weird perspective. The point was to show that racism, as it exists currently, didn't exist in the ancient world. The cultures that you look at as inherently inferior were not oppressed by the "germanic super race" yet.
Why is the idea of a black or arab roman emperor so concerning to you?
Why is the idea that other cultures have value so debilitating to your world view that you have such a profound fear of cultural self reflection and possible improvement that you vehemently oppose any attempt to broach the subject? You must have called me a retard about 10 times you are so enraged by the idea that I did not view your cultural values as supreme.
