Offer multi-billion dollar aid packages to any Middle Eastern country who agrees to undergo measurable, independently administered and verified human rights reforms. Make existing aid conditional and proportional to demonstrated levels of commitment.

Westerners volunteer to go, as groups, to live amongst the rebels. Place yourself in the line of fire and share the risks of those suffering. Make your presence known to both sides to influence decision-making. I'm sure Assad and others like him would be a little bit more careful about slaughtering civilians if 500 of them are American, Canadian or British. And if he's not careful, well, it'll be a good news story.

Donate gas masks, medicine and army surplus to the rebels. Just don't send them to the wrong rebels, because than you'll be charged with supporting terrorism.

Volunteer with a Syrian militia. You're not the sort of person to ask a stranger to send other strangers to stop cruel strangers from hurting nice strangers, are you?

Except for fact that an overwhelming majority of Muslims in the region support legal and political oppression of women.

Afghanistan, 90% of women experience domestic violence. Bangladesh, 50%. Egypt, 33%. Indonesia, 15%. Iran, 66% domestic, 42% sexual. Jordan, 20%. Pakistan, 80%. Syria, 25%. Turkey, 40%.

And that is just reported incidents. Now this is likely a cultural phenomena, rather than a religious one (religion, as per usual, is used to justify terrible behaviour, which would occur even without justification). All that being said, it is completely accurate to say that if you marry a Muslim man in a Muslim majority country, there is a very good statistical chance that he will beat you.
