CNN reported this morning that something like 62% of Dems, 72% of Independents and 83% of Republicans did not support taking action in Syria.
If I was the President at this exact moment, having said everything that Obama has said, I would come on TV tomorrow night to talk to the people, and say, "Despite the fact that I still believe that taking action is in the best interest of America, we are a representative democracy. It is the sole job of out elected officials to represent the will of the people in our Federal government. The people have spoken, and they do not believe that we should take military action in Syria. Therefore, I am directing the forces at my command to continue to monitor the situation while pursuing other, non-military, means of punishing the Syrian government for this travesty."
If he can show that he is a President for the people, I think that it would help him far more than proving he's a President that will stick to his word, against the will of the people.
