calling for a congressional vote in the first place was a rookie move. he should have just moved forward with the strike.

To be fair, if you were going on what Americans prefer to be concerned about, there would be no reason for a bill of rights, let alone seeking out an opinion on whether to bomb another 3rd world country.

I wouldn't have said it like that, but yeah, pretty much.
He committed himself to a certain course of action without even needing to at the time, and with no idea - absent a crystal ball - what the context would be in the future.

I agree, I don't think he ever thought they would use them.

they likely didn't use them. obama's grandstanding has made it almost a certainty that these weapons are now scattered to different hiding places, waiting to be forgotten and refound by people less far less savory than assad.
