Anti-Muslim bigotry is only going to increase, IMO.
The Western world is becoming irreligious and liberal. Muslim youth, on the other hand, are becoming radically conservative, with values almost totally at odds (sometimes rightly, often wrongly) with the corporate dystopia we've created.
I don't anticipate either of these trends reversing, which is going to result in plenty of conflicts, intentionally exacerbated by extremists on each side. We'll continue to blow up their villages, they'll continue to blow up our embassies, and this conflict will continue to expand into the Western world.
Once it gets bad enough, once a group of extremists sets off a suitcase nuke in LA, or a gas attack in Tel Aviv... institutional Islam will be utterly destroyed. Literally all the major powers in the world are being threatened by Islamic extremists, and considering how we reacted to 9/11, I can't imagine how we'll react to an attack that is of actual significance (not to undermine the tragedy of 9/11, but killing 3000 civilians only scares us, it didn't hurt us in a strategic, big picture sense).
To sum it up, I think this is a conflict that will get so bad that eventually we're going to be forced to pick a side. That is, after all, exactly what both sides of the conflict want.
