That would make sense if consoles weren't already just locked down PC's. Convergence is happening already. They would simply be providing an open source ecosystem, one that doesn't rely on Microsoft or Sony. I'd say moving people off Windows for gaming is a pretty revolutionary step, no matter how you look at it. This will let them go after both markets, in a way that totally benefits the consumer. The idea of PC versus console gaming needs to die. They are essentially the same thing, and this concept bridges that gap, providing all the benefits of both PC and consoles with none of the drawbacks.

I still don't know why no one makes a standalone gaming system. No TV, no receiver, no PC needed. Just plug in some virtual display goggles, slap on some headphones, and perhaps throw in a motion-sensing controller to accompany a handheld controller.
