There are two streams of liberal thought, that seemed to have coalesced along the opposite poles that form the twin pillars that support liberal philosophy.
One pole, following the US model, has pursued markets as the avenue in which to assert individual sovereignty but the other pole followed the model of the French Revolution and has pursued a further liberation that also encompasses freedom from the repressive market forces that were emerging during the period of grand imperialism and resulting growth of capitalism. It is from this stream of human consciousness that economic justice will emerge and that will be the next evolution of human liberation.
