public transit is awesome. having a car is terrible. it's one of the major drawbacks to living outside a city, IMO.

at least in civilized new york, most cities and towns have a bus system and at least one line to a "major" city that opens up access to the rest of the state/country via train stations and airports.
it seems pretty easy for most places to do this outside of the terrible towns that have 200 people living in them.
