Should parents be charged when a child uses their gun?

Human beings are so tribal and cult prone. The gun forum on OGPCF achieved Branch Davidian levels of cult behavior. Trying to separate out rational arguments predicated upon facts and pure logic from cult doctrine is with many on this subject an act of utter futility. People have come to define their selves in relation to their weapons, their sense of worth and ego are built upon them. It's tragic.

That wasn't a commentary directed at anyone specifically within this thread, least of all you. One cannot be serious on this topic and deny the validity of the analysis. That it is true for a good many gun owners is undeniable.

People get like that with alot of stuff. Cars and cellphones, Apple products, etc.

It's just that hardcore gun nuts are the worst of the lot, because unlike a guy who loves, say, Mustangs, there is a bunch of political beliefs and ideals that surround the hobby. You can't talk to a serious gun nut about common sense regulations... whereas even the most fanatic car guy sees the point in having seatbelts and speed limits.
