Ok so your definition of "destroy liberty" is what? I still don't get it. Are you defining liberty as the right to buy a gun from a private seller or to own a firearm? If so, your definition is very far off.
What you have to realize is that having to go through an FFL dealer is simply a back door way to tracking guns. And should the gov't want to confiscate all guns one day, it's much easier if you know exactly who owns what. An FFL dealer has to keep records of the purchase. It's not JUST the background check, although I think losing your right to own a gun for ANY non violent crime is insane. It's also almost like another form of Obamacare, the gov't forcing me to pay a private company or citizen for something. Of course Obamacare is even worse, but still.
If I want to sell my property to my cousin, I should have a right to. Period.

"Police protection" is an oxymoron. Gun laws are like masturbation, they both feel really good, but after you're done you realize you haven't accomplished anything."
