Or you could have more than 10-15 guys around to defend the ambassador to Libya, especially when local security is run by Islamists.

After the Iranian hostage crisis, there is zero justification for this ever happening again. It's not Obama's fault. I'm not sure blame can really be assigned to any one person. All I know is that the security arrangements were laughable.

Are they going to grill Rand Paul and the others who pushed to cut funding for security at the State Dept before this happened?

Also, didn't the Ambassador himself say he didn't feel he was in danger there and in fact was pulled out of the burning building by locals?

How about this crazy idea: stop trying to play pin Bengahzi on somebody for alleged political gain? You all raise very valid points. There were failures across the board, just like there always area in these things. The tragedy is magnified when we don't learn from them.

Here's an idea: if you decide to staff an embassy in an area so hot that you need a military force on standby in case you need to be rescued--I'd say probably not such a great place to have an embassy, with staff in it.

I really don't know why the place wasn't fortified/secured earlier, knowing it to be probably a little more dangerous then the embassy's in France or Switzerland etc. They did suspect that, right?? Could be they just needed a sacrificial lamb to keep tensions going in general. Who really knows? Pretty fckd up though.
