People eat crayfish lots of places. You aren't special. I used to catch them when I was a kid. And they taste like mud next to a lobster.

Personally I think dungeness crab is top of the pile, followed closely by king crab, then Atlantic lobster.

Nothing wrong with a crayfish. I enjoy them as much as anyone else with a seafood addiction. But they aren't comparable to lobster in the same way a catfish isn't comparable to a halibut.

Then whoever fixed your crawfish didn't know what they were doing. First off, crawfish have to be from Louisiana, preferably naturally caught in the basin. You probably had Chinese crawfish (they sell and serve chinese crawfish here too since its cheaper) which taste weird. Lobster is tasteless compared to good fresh Louisiana crawfish.

Yeah, it they aren't alive when you boil 'em they won't be very good. Frozen is just not the same.

When I was working at a seafood distributor in Austin some city worker brought a bunch of them in to ask what we thought they were. He had dredged them out of town lake at his job. I think they were clogging an intake or something that he had to clear. Native freshwater prawns, about 2 feet long with some crazy looking claws.

Supposed to be tasty I guess the guy ate them.

Well, I'm not saying that.

Fresh blue crab is the best of the crustaceans if you ask me. Maine lobster is probably second.
