Why can't millennials find jobs?

A lot of truth to that, as well. They are complaining that this generation isn't as flexible and whatnot, when in reality it's the jobs that are demanding more out of the people than what the job pays, so the kids basically say screw it. Pay someone 9 bucks an hour and ask 18 dollars an hour out of them? I wouldn't do it, either.

Traditional jobs should be obsolete. Why should I spend 8 hours at the office when I only spend 3 hours working?

We keep reproducing like rabbits, and keep building machines to do more and more of the work. Finite world, resources, and markets.

It would be a lot easier if we stop recognizing ourselves as millenials. It's insulting really.

Blaming millenials for a lack of professionalism is just an attempt to sidestep the limited opportunities the current market offers. Younglings have always been less professional than those with experience: this is true in all aspects of life. Experience breeds competency. Look at parenting. People are completely blown away by the birth of their first child. They can plan for months - it means little when the shit hits the diaper. But things are much 'smoother' the second and third time around.

The fact of the matter is the number of jobs are limited, and the average age for a retail employer has grown significantly in the last 20 years as people with college degrees remain stuck in bare-minimum jobs.

Although to be honest the rat race really isn't that much better either. And education has turned into just another corporate industry. I've been contemplating and making plans to jump ship before the entire ship sinks. I kinda miss just working part-time and dealing with being poor. I think I was happier…

I am a millennial, born 1990, and my four month paid fellowship just ended and I am still searching. I was offered a job at a different company (36k a year) but there was little upward mobility and the company culture sucked. I am waiting for something that pays at least 50k+ and has better career potential.

I like being 'temporarily retired' or funemployed, my weeks have been 60+ hours for the past year and now I can post on PCF, read some books and go camping.
