There is an entitlement inherent in the American condition that says "if I have a good resume and/or a degree, there should be a job for me", which is, except in times of bubbles i.e. tech, total bullshit. If you really want a good job you have to go find it... and learn how to make connections, develop those connections, network, and be patient. Sometimes you have to get an adjacent job to what you want and wait for a transfer. Sometimes you have to move. It's about priorities.
You don't deserve to walk into a job interview and be 50% of the way towards a job. If it happens, it happens, and sometimes it does... but that's luck. The are select few situations where people simply, after exhausting all competent resources... totally without job prospects.
