I wouldn't say the previous generations have failed the current ones as much as the conditions that allowed for a very expensive way of life have changed.

Its really pretty damm simple. Today, to many people , to much automation, finite world. But I guess we still think finite don't affect us because we are privleged, special, or some other assorted BS. Its not that anyone is lazy,(every generation had its share of deadbeats), its because for many there is simply nothing to do.Holders of college degrees are in that group also.
The hardest part of doing nothing is knowing when your done.

No such thing as too much automation. If a robot can do the job better than me, then the robot should do my job. It'll free up my time to do things the robot can't. Eventually I'll learn how to make the robot do those things so I can move on even further.
