Much like franz, I suspect Muir is leaving because he realized this is a debate forum and not his own personal lecture hall. Hate to see anyone leave but if you can't stand having your assertions challenged by others you're inevitably not going to last.

Honestly, you simply must have thicker skin than that. I was actually enjoying the art of politics thread even with my posted disagreements. I don't see the problem here.

What I'm saying is that some people want to write essays, or treat the discussions we have like academic lectures, but forums are more like casual conversations, and a clever one liner or 3-4 sentences of concise ideas tend to be more appreciated than massive essays. Understandably it is frustrating but that's the reality of forums. You can sometimes get a good discussion going with an essay as the OP, but even then it will turn into a conversation of shorter posts.
