The GOP has used the filibuster for years to reign tyranny over the minority. Just ask immigrants, homosexuals, transgenders, etc.

The first triumverate and the total death of the roman republic is directly attributed to Cato's use of the filibuster in the senate. Its a terrible mechanic of government.
