That's no big deal. My uncle and I used to repair CD players. That could be a small manufacturing defect in the drive itself. Problem is, most people dont know how to fix it. You can take the shell off and watch the disk spin and see what it's hitting. Anything will knock off the drive and beam, so its amazing it works at all. My main concern is it could be scratching the disk. It just depends on what side of the disk is hitting the object. It's not hard enough to stop it from spinning, so its not bad.

Yeah, been a few faulty PS4's too. I was just trying to incite a console troll thread, but...no dice. Quite a few reports of it, but I haven't heard of anyone having the disk destroyed yet. That happened to me years ago with an old DVD-R.

Yea, it can happen. If the read-write head fails to find the disk it can actually go all the way up and strike the spinning disk trying to find it. This happens if the beam is weak or burnt out. Weird things happen, man.
For anyone reading this, don't buy those disks that clean the beam head. OMG those are like sandpaper. All you need to do is pop the top off if you can and take a rubber swab with isopropyl alcohol on it and dab it a couple of times. That's it.
If you can't get to the beam, like if it's in a car, don't sweat it.

Apparently Microsoft is giving those people a free game and a replacement. NBD.
