My first job didn't require a degree. As a business grad, I was hired as overnight loss prevention at a hotel. I went for almost 7 years before landing a job that required a degree.
But, I didn't complain about how Gen Xers were getting screwed and whatnot. I just worked and moved up.

A well regarded law school is basically just another selling point for your services when it comes down to it. Your connections/credentials can only get you are far as you know how to deftly use them to get what you want out of people.
It's certainly not any sort of guarantee. That's for sure.
