I think this deal is indeed a historic mistake.
This is what should have happened:
1. The US removes all sanctions against Iran, ending its terrorist campaign against the Iranian people;
2. The US offers to sell Iran a nuclear power plant and all the resources needed to build it;
3. The US allows Iran to build nuclear weapons, offers to train them in security, and dedicates resources to ensuring that the nukes will be stored safely;
4. The US tells Israel to STFU and stop being irrational pricks. Any attack against Iran will result in a revocation of all defensive pacts and military assistance.
Much better.
