A judgement on whether something will be classic or not has nothing to do with taste. I like a lot of music that will probably be considered classic, and some music that will be classic Ill never like. Determine whether something is classic or not is dependent on how aware you are of American culture as a whole.
Most of you guys shouldn't be allowed to have opinion based on suggestions like Bon Iver and Tom Waits.

Not a joke at all. I already hear their songs all over classic rock stations, which was one of your dumb criteria. Sold what, 40 million albums? Their best songs are certainly more popular than CREEP. Also pretty influential for later acts (see everything at Warped Tour)
Yea, I would have to put Blink-182 on there seriously. I was joking before but now that I think about it f**k yea they are a classic. One of the only 2 albums I have ever actually purchased was Enema of the State (the other being Country Grammar of course). Actually I lied I also bought a Ricky Martin CD for my mom one Christmas. GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! OLE! OLE! OLE!

2. they've barely begun playing pearl jam on classic rock. blink-182, even when it's 40 years old, will never be played alongside alternative rock, which is what will constitute classic rock stations in 20 years.
