what this discussion doesn't seem to be pointing out is that the reason "private business does it better" is because 500 businesses trying to do it failed already until one got it right.

which brings up the question, do you want your mail, healthcare, and education to stop existing dozens of times while the "free" market gets it figured out? i certainly don't.

Well I think your point is, inadvertently, that we need to fix our gov't first before we can think about the gov't running things well.

The problem is that we have too many people in gov't who have no interest in actually governing, only holding power and fighting their cultural wars.

It's interesting how many people here who worship the private sector support elected officials who would survive a week in the private sector for their lack of production.

Well the main difference between our govt run healthcare and other countries govt run health care is thy other countries govt run healthcare is run by the government. Look at any national system outside the us, it just becomes more hands on. The ACA may be a lot sloppier than other systems because they were looking for a big solution that did NOT involve the government actually running health care.
