I enjoyed it for a while but I just didn't have the time to put in. It seems you have to have a lot of time to spare. I joined after the Saz sabotage so I cannot comment on that. What is this Salem?

Its a much more streamlined evolution of H&H by the same developer. Basically the same idea, only prettier and easier to use. Or so I'm told.

If I was going to play such a game, I would play WoW.
I choose not to because I like socialising in my free time, rather than sitting at home on the computer "interacting" with people on the far side of the world.
