Why is it every time I post anything it's some sort of psycho-analysis? I don't think the marines are necessary. I'm calling for a reduction in the size of the army. I don't think your statement about some crap you heard from contractors is a valid point. You haven't demonstrated any reason for me to believe the marines are more well trained than their army equivalent, especially considering the budget constraints you mentioned the army has more access to send more soldiers to training facilities.

Nope, no practical reason whatsoever that you'd want grunts out with the fleet off shore. No tactical advantage there.
