I think the main problem in providing good governance is people's tendency to gloss over the importance of certain substantive issues in favor of quickly asserting policies they support.

Unfortunately, spider, you blithely say "rights and responsibilities go hand in hand derp" while you simultaneously deny the existence of someone's parental rights during an arbitrarily defined period of the child's life.You and exploited are willing to do this because to you the shortest distance to "doing what is right" is a straight line. Unfortunately things aren't ever that simple in real life.
