I said it at the beginning. In my personal life to me their my kids and wouldn't let anything happen to the little punks. But I find the ethical justification you guys are using to be totally repugnant. So we argue about it on that basis.

I find it quite shocking that quite a large number of people appear to have grown up without knowing about human reproduction.

First of all, pregnant women are not mothers and the men who helped cause the pregnancy are not fathers.

Their parenthood is merely potential. Pregnancies end - sometimes spontaneously and sometimes deliberately.

When that happens, neither the man or woman involved get to become parents.

For a pregnancy to be deliberately terminated, a woman has to either take a course of drugs or have an operation.

It's she that has to do that. She cannot send the potential father along to the clinic while she goes rock climbing or whatever - and that's not because that is what the law stipulates, but because it's her body that's involved and not his.

She cannot merely sign a piece of paper and walk away as if nothing has happened. She doesn't have any more rights than the potential father in that respect.

Neither men or women have the right to sign away a pregnancy to make it disappear.

They are both equal in that respect.
