I forgot to post this:

Unit 684 was South Koreas even more whacked response the Blue House Raid. Basically a "dirty dozen" style attachment of condemned men trained as commando/assassins tasked with killing Big Daddy Kim.
Anyway in this wikipedia article it says:
"On August 23, 1971, for reasons which remain unclear, the members of Unit 684 rose up and killed all but six of their guards..."
Well, the "unknown" reason they mutinied was that the SK government decided they were a liability and was going to just whack the unit out and forget they ever existed. However the members of the unit got wind of the plans to liquidate them and much lulz ensued.
The point is South Korea is pretty intense in it's own right. You ought to read about some the contemporary history there. It's freaking interesting as hell. All this lead to a major coup and regime change which transformed South Korea into what it is today. They are not just our compliant lackies, by any measure. It's a dangerous game over there on either side of the border.
