The short answer to the OP? Nothing.
This country was just gang-raped with millions thrown out of work and their homes, the economy shattered and all the key perps in that caper not only walked away, but walked away with taxpayer-funded bonuses.
We've put literally no meaningful restrictions on them which means it happening again isn't a matter of "if" but "when."
Meanwhile, we've decided that the most feared enemy of the decade isn't what they did to our country but... Obamacare.
41+ attempts to put a stop to that, but attempts to put a stop to Wall St. from literally turning us into Brazil? Well, attempts that have succeeded? Zero.
We can certainly blame the GOP, who not only applaud this kind of perversion as "capitalism" as they fetishize the super-rich and explain to us that really all we need is Jesus (without his economic views) and no gays. And guns.
But that would be overlooking the fact that the POTUS, the allegedly-liberal Obama, is bought and paid for just as much by these same bad actors, as he had a historic opportunity after 2008 to put the leash on them but instead he meekly asked: "What can I do to help?"
That's lose/lose. Save for Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren there are no people in DC that are doing a Paul Revere.
Maybe once we get raped again and the country's wealth is virtually vacuumed up completely into the top 10% and unemployment goes over 20, 25%%--maybe then those people with guns will finally start thinking about threatening to use them.
