It was a terrorist attack. It was also largely fueled by the video, which over 1 year later, is what officials understand to be true. And it's not believed to be a well pre-planned thing at all.

It didn't say the violence was spontaneous. It said it had spontaneous elements. As in, people had a plan, and then adjusted it to make use of the video, which allowed them an excellent way to encourage others to join in. In fact, they deliberately spread rumours to that effect, again, according to your own link.

They had a plan as they were executing it, yes. What there wasn't was months of pre-planning. Do you understand the difference?

The plan was mostly made up on the spot. Like if you're stuck in an elevator with no cell service, you may come up with a plan on how to open the door or the roof?
