I take issue with your claim Medius. While I agree that 90% of gun owners are about responsibility, when it comes to passing laws or enforcing them or eliminating loopholes these same people suddenly switch to free-for-all mode, where if anything but the status quo is enacted it's a sign that Obama and the commies are confiscatin' your firearms.

Personally they're responsible, legislatively they're reckless.

I like your distinction between personal and legislative. But I think the personal point is just wrong. We take this whole notion of responsibility for granted. We assume everyone is a responsible gun owners, until they aren't. Lanzas mom no doubt thought herself a responsible gun owner, who took classes and training and went on to others about fostering a healthy respect for firearms in her son. 20 kids are dead, and no we know she wasn't a responsible gun owner. There are millions of people like this who claim to be responsible, but are really one tragedy away from being exposed as negligent and irresponsible gun owners.

I would actually argue that given statistics, keeping a handgun or assault rifle in a home with children is an inherently irresponsible act.
