Have we won the War on Terrorism?

I think it is accurate to say that we dismantled international terrorist organizations to the point where they wouldn't be capable of conducting a large scale attack on U.S. soil. In that sense mission accomplished, now we only have to worry about "lone wolf" type missions conducted by individuals exposed to too much propaganda, not well funded full time terrorist cells like Bin Laden.

As Charai said, the costs, in terms of lives and money have been incredibly high, Pyrrhic victory.

Just the fact that somebody mentioned "war on terror" and "Iraq" in the same sentence vaporizes all credibility.

Saddam Hussein had absolutely zero to do with the kind of Islamic terror that brought us 9/11. In fact, OBL and AQ despised Hussein and if he ever got wind of them setting up in his country he would have instantly wiped them out.

I feel like this is a time warp thread in that this is the same kind of neocon bullshit propaganda that we were fed after 9/11 and leading up to Iraq, just now with more targets. More pointless targets.

They were NON-EXISTENT under Saddam which is the most perverse irony of all.

AQ was not able to get into Iraq until WE did, under the guise of a "War on Terror."

You would think that kind of f***-up would cause some, any kind of backlash against those in charge of running the war but to date, nada.

Here's a thought (I realize this is probably a duh! insight to you, but for others...): maybe the solution to this isn't sending huge military forces everywhere.

We're using a machete when a scalpel should have sufficed.
