The internet village and his departure from PP were two different incidents. He left PP because Quell overruled him on a few of his mod decisions and he thought he'd "show them" by quitting.

Yes, they were two different incidents but it did a lot to ruin his sanity and thats what drove him over the edge, so to speak.
