UN's "call for action" against North Korea

they're stretched pretty thin as far as food goes. and there are internal power struggles between different factions. one good natural famine and absolutely zero food aid and you might see a military coup, followed by a more open north korea.

china has it pretty easy with north korea. they just have to do the bare minimum to make sure north korea is stable enough to keep going. really hard to get them to stop, unfortunately.

If the UN wants a call for action then they ought to do something about it. I met a guy who worked for the UN, all he did was go out to meetings (everytime an issue would come up, they needed to hold a meeting, and nothing ever got done) and he was making about $100,000 monthly- tax exempt of course, had free healthcare and got extra pay for staying in other countries, rental subsidies for housing, dependency allowance, travel and food allowance, paid holidays and leave and an automatic membership in their pension fund by the 6th month that he joined. He kept bragging to me what a great life he was having. What a corrupt organization.

Come to think of it, if I had to redo my life over working for the UN would have been my goal.

Sanctioning them might work. Or it might make them so desperate that they do something stupid.

Personally... It's gotten to the point where I might support military action. This has gone on too far. I don't really care much for intervening in stuff that doesn't directly affect me, but I'm not sure I can in good conscience say that we shouldn't go in there, kick the living f**k out of the regime, destroy their nukes, and get as much food and aid in there as quickly as we can. It is at Holocaust levels now. The estimated casualty count of the regime is in the 2 million range, and that is just based on what we know.

The 2 main problems I for see with getting north Korea to become more open are

1. South Korea will be quite uneasy with full scale war, especially given the proximity from Seoul to the border.
2. North Korea can't open up too much as China won't tolerate it. They currently think the N. Koreans are dicks but they need them there as a buffer from the west.

Is there a military scenario in which Seoul survives?

From what I've read, the answer is no. Accordingly, a war of aggression simply cannot happen.
