veal is a necessary byproduct of the dairy industry. cows must give birth to lactate, but there's only so many cows a farmer can support. still, i've never eaten veal.
i agree there is no need to senselessly cut animals throats so they bleed out and die, conscious of what is happening to them. however, that's a cleaner death than would face them in the wild and i don't think it's a realm of things that need to be legislated. i don't think it's torture, it's just killing the animal. breaking it's legs or something before hand? now we're getting into torture
