This is the most f**k up thing. It is enshrined in our constitution that anyone accused of a crime has the right to a zealous advocate. Yet we choose to punish someone for being an advocate for the sort of people who need those constitutional protections most?
As a law student, this is absurd. One more reason never to be a public defender. And as if this isn't bad enough, the new Obama budget completely decimated the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It's honestly financial suicide at this point to help people with your legal degree.
