Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't everybody from the Nazis to the KKK at some point claimed that God was backing them (and in more benign example, everyone from that skanky rapper to Tim Tebow)?

I would say that is basically a different way to look at the same concept.

The recognition of publicly traded companies as true individuals has muddled the f**k out of everything. The expansion of the commerce clause into every part of our fiscal lives has also muddled everything.

A public corp should not be allowed to claim any religious exemption.

However a partnership, non-profit, or privately held company probably should have that option in certain circumstances.

One little caveat here. Hobby Lobby is not a public company. They are privately owned. Which means that the owner has every right to impose his religious beliefs upon his employees, up to and including what benefits he offers them.
