UN orders Japan to halt whale hunts

There are paintings from the sengoku period of whaling boats. I don't see why the location is a huge deal, or why we attack single out Japan for this.

i agree. the whales that they get 95% of the time are called minke whales, and they're under the "least concern" category. i just don't see the issue here.

they barely take anything. it's international waters they should be able to whale responsibly. i dont know why people get so upset about whales. we need dead whales for our space program, for example

to a hindu, the cow is sacred. to an american, the cow is tasty. so what if americans don't eat whale? they do in japan, and they have for a long time. so what if they didn't whale down south before? technology didn't allow them to that doesn't mean they should be prevented from doing so now. not every culture has the same feelings about animals this way or that. the french eat horse, the chinese, dog. i am repulsed by these things, but I know that is a product of my culture, same as them. there is nothing inherently wrong with whaling. the problem with whaling was overwhaling to the point of near extinction
