Considering most of the economic heavy lifting is done by the Federal Reserve, and most of the shit that f**k the economy by Congress, this dude can go f**k himself. A two thousand dollar a month apartment is $24000 a year. Even doubling or tripling that leaves a solid hundred grand for everything else.

so for a long time i've been trying to come to terms with classism and my socialist tendencies, and have given a lot of thought of reconciling the issue without simply killing the wealthy and destroying their wealth.

He is completely spot on. Congressmen simply have to much power to not be wealthy. They should be paid in the six figures, although per-diem is an acceptable alternative. The pay isn't because they deserve it, it's to prevent them from being persuaded by any chump that can afford to gift them a nice car or box seats. The less congressmen are paid, the more susceptible they are to bribery and corruption. It's really that simple. Paying congressmen more costs the us nothing in the grand scheme of things, a billion dollars in out multi trillion dollar budget. Small price to pay to insulate your legislature from the evil influences of money.

Plus, there is the obvious market rational. Better pay attracts better talent. Somehow everyone on earth seems to get this except for the federal government and irrational anarchists like comrade.

there are diminishing returns on better pay=better talent. plus that's kind of idiotic to apply to a job that is known for bribery and where even six figures leaves someone unable to afford what wealthy lobbyists can offer. so unless you want to give them several million a year and a stock portfolio you're not actually solving anything, just agreeing with an inflammatory idiot to stoke the flames.
