If that is an "academic argument," so is saying that you get nervous when black people are around since a narrow sliver of the black population is so disproportionately represented in violent crime statistics. In other words, a glaring, massive generalization doesn't become valid just because someone decides to make that argument.

In any case, I would argue that a great many non-Muslims decided to attack the US as a result of 9/11, just not in the way you are thinking.

Major Hasan proved right to an extent Juan's thought process and legitimized his fears. Here is someone who switched sides and killed Americans because of his Muslim faith and because the war was framed in terms of Islam vs the U.S.
