i almost put linux on my new build but i really enjoy windows 7 so i didn't feel a need to dick around with linux for a few hours to get it set up.

i'm not a tinkerer. once it's installed/built and working as intended i pretty much never touch it again outside of routine maintenance.

Uber, have you tried any of the Ubuntu 12.04-13.10 versions with gnome-fallback/XFCE installed yet? Might be a good option as well.
14.04 comes out in a couple of days, so might be worth a shot. I've heard pretty good things about this version so far from the beta.
